When three global players combine their strengths, great things are created. The grand opening of the state-of-the-art vehicle inspection station in Zanzibar was not only a significant milestone for the region, but also an impressive example of the power of coordinated, international cooperation. MAHA, Applus and DKT have worked hand in hand to realize an innovative, digital and future-oriented solution for vehicle testing – with success. The local investor and operator, Kwa Silva Company Limted, paved the way and the concession for local vehicle inspection processes of all kinds.
Three partners – one vision: it was clear from the outset that this project required more than just technological excellence. It required perfectly coordinated interaction between three specialists. MAHA contributed the state-of-the-art testing equipment, Applus contributed its global expertise and quality assurance in vehicle testing, and DKT provided intelligent networking and enforcement tools with its digital RFID/NFC solution and a cloud-based database.
The road to the opening – a real team effort: the challenge was enormous: the entire infrastructure, technical processes and digital interfaces had to be in place before the grand opening – an ambitious schedule. But thanks to close coordination, mutual trust and a shared vision, the partners overcame every hurdle. What was particularly remarkable was how flexibly and goal-oriented the team responded to local circumstances and adapted the solution to the specific requirements of Zanzibar.
A lighthouse project for the whole of East Africa: the successful commissioning of the test station has opened a new chapter in vehicle testing and road safety in the region. The project not only serves as a role model for other African countries, but also as proof that international cooperation can make a lasting difference. The vehicle testing station in Zanzibar is more than just a technical facility – it is a symbol of progress, innovation and commitment to partnership.
Sustainable concept: The DKT solution in the project comprises a smart vehicle data management solution, provision of the vehicle status and a mobile app solution for retrieving the vehicle data. The solution is modular and can be adapted and expanded to meet local requirements at any time. For example, for issuing vehicle permits (e.g. cabs), issuing and registering driver’s licenses or for vehicle registration checks. Vehicle identification at the highest level.
We are proud to be part of this success and look forward to continuing to work together on the mobility of the future!
