Traffic on motorways and country roads in Belgium is steadily increasing. This also increases the requirements for road equipment. Those responsible have to react more and more quickly to environmental and traffic situations and to enable a smooth flow of traffic for all road users by means of traffic control systems (VBA).
Due to its good business conditions and worldwide contacts, DKT Deutsche Kennzeichen Technik has been awarded the contract for the delivery of eleven interchange signs in the so-called prism technology. DKT draws on the products and expertise of the German technology leader, Bremicker Verkehrstechnik. Together, a flexible, effective and customer-specific solution could be presented to the customer in Belgium. For example, special brackets were designed and pre-assembled specifically for this project, which enable the customer to quickly and effectively install on the construction-side sign bridges on the A3 near Loncin in Belgium. The Belgian motorway A3 (French: A3) Autoroute 3) runs for 134 kilometres from Brussels via Liege, to the German border near Aachen, where it passes into the B44 motorway.
The aim of this project was to provide tailor-made transport technology according to the highest customer orientation. From the preparation of the offer to the project execution, communication with the end customer could be ensured by the DKT via a “native speaker”. But it was also because of the technically demanding planning and construction of the signs and the special brackets that a very close exchange with the project engineers in Weilheim was necessary.
The project team at DKT and Bremicker also mastered a new challenge with the fullest customer satisfaction, namely that of a COVID-19 pandemic and the associated limitations of on-site sighting and personal customer contact. On the basis of pictures and technical stock documents, the interchange signs had to be planned, constructed and implemented according to the customer’s wishes, without knowing the conditions on site. Thus, it was self-evident that in addition to the project documentation such as assembly drawings or electrical circuit diagrams, the construction of the special brackets on the sign bridges or videos, through the functionality of the prisms and the technical acceptance, was delivered “everything from a single source” in order to meet the requirements of the client.
In addition to the interchangeable signs in prism technology for 4 motorway cross-sections, the DKT provided two further interchangeable traffic signs to limit the speed. A flexible and punctual delivery according to customer requirements could be realized by the company’s own factory delivery traffic. Despite its young company history, DKT shows that it not only has competent employees with international experience, but also a broad network of partners with the highest degree of specialisation. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead, which we are happy to accept at any time, says DKT Managing Director Bernhard Gött.
